Meet Gill – The Energy Whisperer

Oracle cards have been my trusty sidekick for years. I use them in my work, but they've also been a go-to tool for getting clear on things, checking in with myself, and adding a bit of magic to my everyday routine.

The word oracle comes from the Latin orare, which means “to pray” or “to speak”—basically, it’s all about connecting with something bigger than ourselves. Oracle cards are kind of like the chill cousins of tarot cards. They don’t follow a strict system like tarot (which always has 78 cards split into suits like swords, cups, pentacles, and wands). Instead, oracle decks can be totally unique—some just have a simple message on each card, while others dive deeper into themes or guidance.

Combining oracle cards with Reiki is a beautiful way to deepen both practices. I like to start a session by pulling a card (or a few!) to set the tone or highlight what needs attention. The messages from the cards can guide the focus of the Reiki—whether it’s balancing certain chakras, clearing emotional blocks, or just holding space for whatever’s coming up. It adds an intuitive layer to the healing process, helping both me and the client connect more deeply to the energy at play. It’s like getting a gentle nudge from the universe before diving into the flow of Reiki energy.
